Northern Presbytery
The Northern Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana is the largest Presbytery in Ghana in terms of geographical space. It is coterminous with the Northern Region of Ghana, minus the East and West Mamprusi , Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo and Mamprugu Maigduri Districts, which have been mapped out as part of the Upper Presbytery.
The Northern Region with Tamale as its capital has a population of 2,468,557 according to 2010 census and covers a total land mass area of 70.383 square kilometres. The total number of Presbyterians is 10,510, representing about 0.4% of the total inhabitants of the region. The main occupation of the people is agriculture.

In 2018, the Presbytery consists of 5 ecclesiastical districts with 40 Congregations, 78 preaching points, 1 Mission Field, 23 Ministers, 28 Catechists, 4 Evangelists, 83 Caretakers, and 380 Presbyters. The 5 districts are Salaga, Yendi, Damongo, Tamale Urban and Tamale Rural. The Gushegu Mission Field falls under the Tamale Urban District.
In terms of geographical coverage and spread, the Tamale Rural District borders Tamale Urban District to the South and West. Yendi, the head station of the Yendi District is 101 kilometres to the East of Tamale, the seat of the Presbytery Offices. Salaga, head station of Salaga Disctrict is 118 kilometres South Eastwards and Damongo is 128 kilometres to the West of Tamale. The furthest stations from Tamale are: Katiejeli (6-hour drive to the South East – 202 km), Banda Nkwanta (5-hour drive to the South West – 282 km) and Chereponi (5-hour drive to the North East – 191 km).
